There are some writers in my SCBWI crit group who's insight into plotting and character is rapier-like, but they skim the technical stuff almost entirely.

What's coming across seems to be that the subject isn't as clear cut as is believed.Juliennehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03177445245144105172noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1464589489014860611.post-89009963673108069372012-07-11T07:11:35.084+01:002012-07-11T07:11:35.084+01:00What I like about sci-fi is the new world it can b...What I like about sci-fi is the new world it can bring in terms of technology-and people. Older sci-fi in particular does a lot more with a bit more violence, stuff a little more out there. I'm a girl who likes the more gory, weird stuff, so I wouldn't say that that put me off. But there are a couple in my book club who wouldn't think of going near that kind of sci fi...Great post :-)Nina @ Death, Books, and Teahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09002356372335203320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1464589489014860611.post-41763336180980123952012-07-10T15:02:20.629+01:002012-07-10T15:02:20.629+01:00Now I'm blushing. Now I'm blushing.Heather Kilgourhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07553036216216310308noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1464589489014860611.post-55257778125281332962012-07-10T14:36:54.129+01:002012-07-10T14:36:54.129+01:00Those are definitely the elements that teen-me enj...Those are definitely the elements that teen-me enjoyed (and not so teen-me still does.)

(However I respond to your last comment makes me sound like a letch - so I'll just let it slide ;)Juliennehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03177445245144105172noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1464589489014860611.post-63204359210242006662012-07-10T14:32:32.191+01:002012-07-10T14:32:32.191+01:00Thanks, Candy and a great alternative view. And the challenge is how our basic humanity responds to the extremes of the new world. The threat that it could come true also gets me going - like in Julie's book Exodus. Lovely post! I know a LOT of girls who love SCI-FI, but what is strange to me is the amount of teenage boy's who I come across who are into 'TWLIGHT', it's 'Sick' (which apparently is the new generations term for cool), and really don't get why it'd appeal to them.Sallyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12759992873045228788noreply@blogger.com
